The movie ‘Zombieland’ is a horror comedy directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It was released on October 2009 and stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and abother cast. The story of the movie is about an aimless man who travels across the country to find shelter from a zombie apocalypse. Along with him on his journey, he has the book ‘Zombieland: A Novel of Survivors’ that points him in the direction of Wichita Falls. In this article, we will look at the film and find out why it was a success and how it ranks in the list of other zombie movies. The story begins with Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) who is an aimless want-to-be author and Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), a tough gun-toting fighter. They are both senior citizens in their own sense; Columbus is struggling to get his life together; while Tallahassee, always seems to be trying to kill himself. The two strangers meet when they are attacked by zombies on the road, and end up working together to escape the undead rampaging around the city of Columbus. Tallahassee is as violent as he is racist, and his personality clashes with Columbus’s. As they escape from Columbus, they meet an attractive Wichita (Emma Stone) and a brilliant inventor named “Little Rock” (Abigail Breslin). Together, they join a group of other survivors to find a rumored sanctuary known as Pacific Playland – a place free from zombies – where they can hide. The actors who played the part of Tallahassee and Little Rock were amazing. Tallahassee was portrayed perfectly by Woody Harrelson who was talented enough to bring that character to live. In contrast, Emma Stone was brilliant in the role of Wichita. One of the reasons that the movie became popular, was because it was based on a novel by Max Brallier. The book version of Zombieland is not as well known as it should be. The book, which is now available in paperback, received positive reviews from critics and fans alike. The story of Zombieland follows a few survivors who are traversing across America trying to live their lives despite the reality that zombies are everywhere. Throughout the story, Max Brallier’s writing style is fresh and comical. His ability to create believable characters is very evident throughout the novel. Also, the relationships between characters are well developed and make up an interesting plot which is essential for an interesting book. The story of Zombieland is unique because it does not involve any classic horror story. The novel does not use any gory scenes, nor does it feature many bodily mutilations. Also, the director has replaced the typical Hollywood zombies with intelligent, fast-moving zombies that are more like human beings in order to increase the appeal of his movie. The movie version was able to introduce a new genre in zombie movies- the comedy/horror hybrids. cfa1e77820
