It has been a while since we wrote anything about the space marine codex and we imagine many of you are looking for the new release. Thankfully it is now available and we can finally show you what 8th edition codex has in store. The book weighs in at 16 pages and includes:- Space Marine Psykana Powers (pg1) - New Special Issue Weapons (pg2) - Default Chapter Tactics (pg3) - Rites of Battle Mission Objectives (pg4) - Organization Charts for Primaris Units, Scions, Supplements to other Chapters, Reclusiam Command Squads, and Reclusiam Command Squads with Bikes. - Repulsor Executioner (pg8) - Redemptor Dreadnought (pg9) - Knight of the Catechism (pg11) - Astra Militarum Codex Rules Update (pg16)For more details on Imperial Knight stats in 8th Edition, see here: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/09/22/genestealer-invasion-codexes-are-out/This article will serve as a general overview of the Space Marine codex. Or as some might say as a "let's see if we can wait for the Codex before we start this article" article. As was to be expected, we start off with Chapter Tactics and the first two pages of new rules for Primaris Marines and their new option: Repulsor Executioner and Redemptor Dreadnought. We will go over these in more detail later on in this review. The book also includes a pretty decent organization chart for Primaris units. The main feature of the book is the addition of 28 datasheets for all Primaris units so you can dive right in to them. And the book is rounded off with the Astra Militarum codex rules update (which now includes Creed and Vanilla Marines as well as Guard Veterans). And lastly, the book contains all the rules for new characters like Celestine. This article takes a look at each of the Chapter Tactics and Special Issue weapons, as well as looking into some of our favorites like Assault Cannons and Thunder Hammers. We will also go through some of the various Stratagems available to you in this list. And finally, we will have a look at Rites of Battle which are your "Formations" for 8th Edition Space Marines. New Special Issue Weapons are among one of the biggest changes since 7th Edition. And we must admit we love all of them - even the Heavy Flamer. To clarify: Special Issue Weapons are weapons that can be taken as one of your Sergeant or Honor Guards weapon options. These weapons are generally more powerful than the regular gun and benefit from other special rules as well. Some of them can also be used by ANY Space Marine regardless of whether they took a Special or Heavy Weapon option - like the new Flamer and Meltagun (which would normally only be available to those with a Heavy Weapon option). As we see it, this is one of those little gems that GW has slipped in to this Codex release and we love it right out of the gate. cfa1e77820
